About
This is MAUNA Yoga. Mauna means 'peace of mind' or 'silence' in sanskrit.
Who am I? My name is Simone van Oord, living in Antwerp ( call me Siem, because Simóne is difficult here), born in Breda.
I have long been fascinated by physical expression through different backgrounds: my mother's profession as a physiotherapist, through my dance experience and my education as a drama therapist. When I first came in contact with yoga, I felt that yoga is a part of me. My dream is to make yoga a part of everyone.
It gave me peace of mind and an awareness that goes beyond the physical. I started teaching Hatha yoga in 2018 in Belgium and the Netherlands. And Yin yoga and Pilates in 2019.
With Mauna I want to create a place where you can learn to feel what your mind and body need. Why? To be healthy, physically and mentally. How? By yoga asanas, breathing exercises, relaxation, diet, meditation and play. To achieve what? Peace of mind, awareness and knowledge of body and soul.
My yoga work is based on the philosophy of the Vedanta and the wisdom of Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnudevananda. Therefore Mauna yoga is next to the asanas also a place to explore the Self.
